Into the Metaverse: 9 Superpowers of VR Learning

Today's professional development event I attended, "Into the Metaverse: 9 Superpowers of VR Learning" put on by ATDKY with speaker Anders Gronstedt, of Gronstedt Group, focused on using VR for learning. Anders provided several demos, along with going over what Gronstedt Group calls the 9 superpowers of VR.  

9 Superpowers of VR:
  1. Experiential learning.
  2. Embodied learning.
  3. Deliberate practice (10,000 hours, Professor Anders Ericsson).
  4. State-dependent retention.
  5. Visualization.
  6. Storytelling and empathy. (still difficult to create the level of free-flowing conversation so as to truly teach soft skills) 
  7. Analytics (head and eye tracking, hand/body tracking, heatmaps, physiological response).
  8. Social learning (allowing for instructors and students to meet virtually, lessening the cost of training).
  9. Engagement (ultimate captive audience).
